BOO-tiful Halloween Ideas

Halloween is one of my favorite Holidays, but not for the reasons it used to be.  I used to love dressing up but now one of my favorite things about the holiday is hosting friends for a party (see last year’s post here) or this year celebrating at my office.  My coworker sent an AMAZING email about how we’ll be celebrating (it involves “Flashdance-style Trick or Treating,” which begins with the onset of “Thriller” being played.)

Here are a few ways I’ve kicked off this holiday so far this year:

On Sunday night, my brother, his girlfriend, my boyfriend, and I all went to Sleep No More. If you haven't been, you should go. Now.

A friend of mine, Maggie, hosted our girlfriends for some Pumpkin Carving. She supplied snacks, including these Clementine and Celery Pumpkins!

Since it's Halloween, I figured I could get away with these "Spooky" nails at work for a day!

A Birthday Wish

Today I want to wish a VERY Happy Birthday to my older brother, Derek.

A Cop and His Dalmations, Wine Tasting in Sonoma, Upstage Event in Tahoe and the Colts game with our family (I won't comment on the middle one)

It’s hard sometimes to put in to words my love for him, especially after all of the years of him tormenting me, beating me up, and refusing I talk to his friends (we’re 18 months apart so this was difficult for me).  Regardless of how mean he USED to be, we’ve grown very, very close over the past several years (I think it was one of the things my Dad sought over) and I couldn’t be more proud to call him not only a brother, but one of my best friends.  We’ve even worked together, which most people thought would never work (so far I can report we’re still both alive.)

I’ve seen him more this year than I have the past 5 years since he moved to San Francisco (I’ve been there twice, we both went to Indianapolis) and this weekend he’s finally visiting ME in New York!  I can’t wait to celebrate and give him one of those (annoying) hugs he always loves!

Happy Birthday, Derek.  I love you!
