Travel Tuesday: New York City for the Holidays

It’s no secret that I think New York is one of the most amazing cities in the world.  I have had aspirations of living there since I was little (and hopefully I will soon enough) so of course I jumped at a last minute trip there this past weekend.

It’s bittersweet because on the way there, you see so much devastation from Sandy (and my friends volunteered with Relief efforts on Sunday because they’re amazing).  But I have so much going on between now and the end of the year so I wanted to get one last trip in to see some friends, and of course the magical city at this time of year.  I have had the most incredible year and I am so very blessed and this trip just reminded me of that so much.

I went to brunches with new friends and old friends, went out to some new (to me at least) bars and clubs, and walked several miles on Sunday exploring all of the Holiday decor, and soaking up one of the most beautiful days left of the year.  Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

Rockefeller Center Ice Skating, the Plaza hotel, Macy’s “Believe” and the Empire State Building on my walk around town.

Times Square at night, Macy’s Michael Kors Shoes in the window, The Grey Dog, an Fendi with festive and sparkly lights!

Lunch at Sarabeth’s with John and Amretha (some of my oldest friends) 🙂 Dinner at The Mulberry Project, Los Caminos, Flowers for Jaime for hosting me (Who says you have to have guys to buy flowers??) and Mike and I on the train ride back to DC after a great weekend!

Travel Tuesday: New York City

Over Labor Day, my mom and sister came to visit me in DC and then we took a quick trip to New York.  I absolutely love New York all times of the year, but especially now because the weather is absolutely perfect!

We haven’t been to New York with just the three of us in over 2 years (when they drove me out in DC and we stopped along the way) so it was a fun opportunity to go again.

We went out to dinner in SoHo, went to a Broadway Musical (Mary Poppins), and shopped for an entire day (of course!)

Here’s a recap of our trip:

My mom and I at dinner at RSVP in SoHo, Times Square at night, Our “Mystery Wine” sent at dinner, Nat and Mom before Mary Poppins, and Nat and I at Mary Poppins on Broadway

Lunch in NoLita, My amazing New York purchase, and leaving the city on our way back to DC!
